My inexplicably
controversial essay
"Never Get Raped"
The appeal of the "bad boy" archetype, explained
for the benefit of all the men who mistakenly
believe they are doomed romantically as "nice
guys."
A mushroom trip that
relentlessly rearranged
my mind
Bad Boys 2: No More Mr. Nice Guys!  In
response to an email from a man upset that
women don’t ask him out.
The words "survivor" and "victim" are
opposite in connotation, so why is there
such confusion?  Why is it pugilists,
thieves, scam artists, and murderers
have victims...yet rapists and child
molesters only ever seem to leave
behind "survivors?"
The first essay of several on how crime
is treated differently based on the
gender of
the criminal--in this case sex crimes.
A piece I wrote at the time of Kobe Bryant's trial, but topical
is not like me.  Timing aside, it's still a worthwhile
definition
to revisit.
My two essays on
the
Matrix
movies...some
might wonder if I
in fact think about
this stuff a
little too much...
The first of the stories involving
the group of characters I
continued writing about for years
after,
Generation Ex.
The second story
written in the same
series,
Solitaire
An episode from this series, in which
another of the cast takes center
stage,
Wicked Game
Another of the series,
Soliloquy
The fourth story, 31...which now
that I am 27, I find disturbingly
realistic.
One of my science fiction
stories,
The Third Phase of the Moon
This is also from the
sci-fi side of my brain,
and oddly similar
thematically, now that I
think of it...but
Motherhood is a mite
darker.
The Man in Apartment
2F...kind of X-Files meets
NYPD Blue.
The Waitress is kind of
an A.M. Homes-inspired
piece.
